Drawing on Nature as a Source of Inspiration for Pine Cones

The metal sculptures of Floyd Elzinga, Ontario, Canada

"Elzinga has forged a career by glorifying the things that rouse his inner artist. These are the things that capture and reveal nature’s implacable impetus: decaying tree stumps, invasive species, and wind-ravaged trees, to name a few." http://landarchs.com/upcycled-art-floyd-elzinga-challenges-perceptions/
I like the idea of how he uses the natural world as source of inspiration and how he perceives these "common" objects that are "transformed" yet placed again "to live on" in these same environment..the idea about change and the temporal (biodegradable/non-biodegradable). His choice of material also is quite interesting (iron)as he gets to link it with political/social issues. His concerns are simplistic and he conceptualise  ideas and thoughts in a free-flowing manner.
