Task One: Take Two Influences.

TASK 1:Take two Influences.

For task 1, I wanted to work from a starting point and I thought of a theme : TRACES.

I like this idea as it is usually associated with identity and “the imprints that are left behind”.

So I have planned to work out from rubbings and then to develop the idea into drawings.

My two influences will then be from Doodle Art (as doodling is usually associated with random drawing and bringing out the subconscious) and Automatism drawing (Surrealist).

DOODLE ART

My first influence is PAT PERRY.

Pat Perry is a superbly talented artist who, as his mind wanders, inscribes in ink some truly surreal and attention grabbing imagery.
He is a well known Doodle artist.
What is Doodle Art?
Doodle Art is a whimsical expression of the imaginative side coming out from the subconscious. It is a way of visually thinking and enhancing the creative side of the mind.

AUTOMATISM DRAWING
Automatic drawing was developed by the surrealists, as a means of expressing the subconscious.
In automatic drawing, the hand is allowed to move ‘randomly' across the paper. In applying chance and accident to mark-making.
Hence the drawing produced may be attributed in part to the  subconscious and may reveal something of the psyche, which would otherwise be repressed.

My second influence is based on Automatism Drawing.

MATERIALS USED FOR RUBBINGS

For my research I proceeded by first working out on some  rubbings.

Results obtained from the Rubbings using pencil.

Starting with the Rubbing and adding an Observational Study of some leaves.

DEVELOPMENT OF IDEAS AT DIFFERENT STAGES.

New Research with the Printing Technique with the same materials used for the Rubbings.

The work is still unfinished...
